Evidence base represents a robust approach to addressing this by focusing on the problematic academic culture instead of trying to fix the individual.”
Katie completed her PhD in Human Genetics at the University of Leeds in 2016 and went on to work for the Leeds Institute of Data Analytics for 6 months as a Data Scientist before taking up a post doctoral research position at the University of Edinburgh in 2017 working on single cell transcriptomics. In her current position as project manager for evidence base, she is responsible for ensuring the research fellows are resourced and supported by the wider eBase team, maintaining and growing the network of external partners with interest and involvement in the research and ensuring that the PI and Co-Is provide input to the project while also being able to sustain their research careers outside of eBase.
Alongside her academic career Katie set up the Dundee Nightline service in 2011/2012 and was a coordinator of the Leeds Nightline service in 2016/2017, gaining considerable expertise in peer support and volunteer management.
Katie is a strident feminist, activist and staunch advocate for equality, diversity and inclusion in STEM.
